Intel Previews Design 10nm CPU Ships in June; 7nm Product in 2021

Intel’s new process roadmap released. The future looks bright! The new Products release timelines.

The Stagnation of CPU performance has been the major problem since 2015. The Intel CPUs, in particular, have had only 25% per core performance increase from 2015 till date. The intel’s 10nm CPU architecture was really being expected from the 2017 but has been delayed year and year due to yield and manufacturing issues.

But it all seems to have materialized now, as the Intel’s new product release roadmap has been released. And boy is it exciting! Intel has confirmed that the 10nm based products will be launched in 2019 (that we expect to be in the late second half of the year) and introduction to the 7nm based product in the year 2021.

10nm Lakefield chips(2019):

Intel’s first in the line chip is mobile pc platform chip called the Ice Lake. The first product in the line of Lakefield chips as claimed by Intel. It is based on the Intel’s long-anticipated 10nm architecture and is supposed to be shipping readily by June this year. The expectation from the chip is to deliver approximately 3 times faster wireless speeds, 2 times faster video transcode speeds, 2 times faster graphics performance, and 3 times faster artificial intelligence (AI) performance over any other previous Intel’s products.

7nm official update:

Intel for the first time officially and discussed their 7nm production ambitions. We all knew about the new Intel XE GPU’s that are coming out in 2021 for the data centres is based on the 7nm architecture. ON the note of first official Intel consumer GPUs to hit the market in the year 2020, the 7nm general-purpose GPU is to be launched in 2021.

The GPU releasing in 2020 is for the enthusiastic gaming market will be in the 10nm architecture while the XE GPU for the data centre will be released in the year 2021 and is going to be based on the highly anticipated 7nm architecture. The expectation bar has been raised high by Intel, but will it match the expectations or fall short, will be interesting to witness.
