Xiaomi Will Integrate 64 MP & 108 MP Sensors In Upcoming Redmi Series

The struggle to integrate larger sensors in the smartphone cameras does not cease. In this year, 48 MP lenses were popularized in high-end phones, in the same way, the next step is already prepared: the 64 MP. And it seems that Xiaomi will be one of the first to reach it. However, the company does not stop there and announced, it will be the first to use the Samsung ISOCELL CMOS 108 MP sensor in one of its phones.

Xiaomi has announced that its next Redmi phone will have a 64 MP sensor, thus becoming one of the first companies to have a lens of this size. This is the Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1 1/7 “and 0.8 μm and 64 MP sensor. This is 38% larger than the 48 MP sensor, which will allow you to capture brighter, more vibrant and detailed images.

It is known that the phone will feature camera functions such as ISOCELL Plus for more faithful color reproduction, Smart ISO and HDR 3D hybrid. It will offer a resolution of 9,248 x 6,936 pixels and each photo can reach 19 MP, so you can print posters of 2.44 x 3.26 meters at 72 dpi without losing quality.

At the moment, it is unknown which phone will be the first to equip this 64 MP sensor since the company has preferred to present the camera technology at an event held in Beijing. Yes, it has confirmed that it will be on a telephone of the independent brand of the house, Redmi and that it will be launched in India in the fourth quarter of 2019.

But beyond 64 MP, Xiaomi said it also works on a Samsung 108 sensor and that it will integrate into a Mi series mobile, which will arrive with a resolution of 12,032 x 9,024 pixels. Anyhow, we have to wait to see if it really is.
