PUBG makers to design new game with plot-driven missions
PUBG Corporation has revealed that the new unit will work on an “original narrative experience within the PUBG universe.
About the Game PUBG
Player’s Unknown Battleground (PUBG) has become drastically popular in a very short period. PUBG was released for PCs first in the year 2017, and then it was rolled out for other consoles like Xbox, PS4 and then later it was also launched for smartphones. The Battle Royale format has witnessed massive popularity between the gamers as the players fight to win the title of the last man standing. Now in a new development, the publisher of the title PUBG Corporation has announced that a new PUBG game will undergo development by the developers of popular games like Call of Duty and Dead Space.
About the MOD
PUBG with a plot! That’s the biggest news to come out of the Battle Royale universe. PUBG, especially the mobile version of the game has been hugely popular in India. The sole purpose of the game is to survive and be the last man standing. There is nothing more to it. The battle royale genre now has many more games based on this format and it is getting cluttered out there. All of this will change soon as the makers of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) are set to launch another game within the PUBG space that will come with a story element.
A brand new studio called Striking Distance will helm the game which is still untitled. The studio has appointed the ex-Call of Duty and Dead Space developer Glen Schofield as its CEO. The game is still in early stages of development and PUBG Corporation has revealed that the new unit will work on an “original narrative experience within the PUBG universe”. However, there are enough hints that the game might skip the battle royal variety completely and won’t be the sequel to PUBG.
“As a creative, the freedom to explore the PUBG universe has me excited about the possibilities, which I view as beyond the battle royale genre”, Schofield had said. However, there are rumours that the new narrative based game will be set inside the PUBG world.
It was inevitable for PUBG to look for a narrative based alternative as its arch-rival Fortnite also has a story-driven mode. The concept of a narrative based game isn’t new though. Games like Battlefield, Call of Duty and Dead Space have been using story-driven gameplay for many years now.
PUBG Lite Beta Registrations Now Open for Indian Gamers
Besides the chatter about this new format of PUBG game, there has also been confirmed news about the coming of a new PUBG Lite version of the Battle Royale game. Unlike the abovementioned new title, the PUBG Lite will be the same game which the players have been enjoying till now. The PUBG Lite will bring the PUBG gameplay for the owners of low-end spec laptops, thus making it possible for the gamers to play the game on PC with low specifications like Core i3, 4GB RAM, 4GB HDD and Intel 4000 Graphics. The game maker has made the PUBG Lite registration open for Indian gamers till July 3 after which the title will be available for beta testing to them.
In other news, PUBG Lite for PC is finally heading its way to India along with a bunch of more countries in the Asian region. After launching in countries like Hong Kong, Taiwan, Brazil and Bangladesh, the lightweight version of the game has been confirmed to be released in one of the biggest markets for the battle royale game. While the official release date hasn’t been confirmed, pre-registration for the game has already begun. Early registration to PUBG Lite will also offer free skins and other rewards to players once the game arrives.PUBG began life as an Arma 2 mod, before being spun off into its own battle royale title–in early access on PC–in early 2017. It later came to both Xbox One and PS4.
