Recently Apple has decided not to sell the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus in India and may even close small stores and outlets where the sales are less than 35 units per month, this news was officially declared by the higher authority from the organization.
The strategy behind this is that the company wants to reinforce the brand’s premiumness in the Indian market and not only this, the company has also decided to increase the price of other Apple products up to 5,000 rupees. Moreover, the company wants to expand the number of Apple-exclusive mobile phone stores (i.e. Apple authorized resellers), this is why Apple has decided to close stores that do not sell at least 35 Apple mobiles per month.
This task is assigned to Ashish Chowdhary who took charge as the new country head around January. Earlier he was the part of Nokia’s global leadership team is twisting the sales of Apple products in India extensively.
On the other hand, the retailers have stated that the company’s sales are decreasing due to high prices and due to competition from companies like Realme or Mi who are providing premium features on affordable prices. So this action may or may not result in Apple’s favour.
